Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A group of villagers pelted stones at a police station in Bihar's Begusarai on Saturday, two days after a youth was murdered over a minor dispute.
As per report, a group of villagers damaged a police vehicle and other items at the police station in Begusarai's Bhagwanpur by pelting stones and also blocked the road leading to the police station. As soon as the locals came to know about the disturbance at the police station, personnel from other police stations rushed to the spot and chased away the villagers.
According to the police, the vandalism was a result of the murder of a youth, whose dead body was brought to Bhagwanpur village two days before the commotion at the police station. Superintendent of Police, Begusarai, Yogendra Kumar said that a case of murder was registered two days ago. "Two people were sitting by the fire and one of them got into an argument with a passer-by. The fight between them escalated so much that the passer-by shot the man."
The SP said the accused has been identified, and an FIR has been registered against him for murdering the youth. Orders have been issued to arrest the accused as soon as possible, the SP told. The police officer added that commotion broke out at the Bhagwanpur police station after the youth's body was brought to the village and the killing enraged the villagers.
"We got information that there were some cars parked at the Bhagwanpur police station. Protesters were sitting in the block office. People came inside and smashed the cars, vandalized the police station as well," Kumar said.
According to Kumar, the villagers were instigated by some miscreants to attack the police station. "2-3 boys have been identified in the video footage. They will be arrested as per the orders of the SHO," the SP said.
